i love waterfalls so much i once was foolish enough to build one in a brooklyn loft i lived in which had tall 12' ceilings. i had grand visions of lush green leaves surrounding multi-tiered layers of falling water, all neatly collected and recirculated in a tranquil bottom pool.
the reality turned out to be less grand and lush, being built from ripped plywood and recycled materials. and there wasn't so much greenery. but it did run at one crazy loft party we had. then my roommates and i stuck a christmas tree in at the bottom pool. oh the foolishness!

to chicago

the drive from philly to chicago is full of cows, corn, and country music. every half hour or so through pennsylvania, you'll pass by some stretch of land where the smell makes your mouth pucker and your nose go sour. this drive was especially hard, as i had come down with the flu and was sweating up a storm for the entirety of the ride.
for some reason i thought it was only going to be an eight hour drive, but then a few hours in, i remembered from last time that it was actually fourteen hours. yikes! it actually wasn't so bad until hour twelve hit and my head started to nod. i gave in, popped a red bull and limped through the last two hours.
we finally made it to the hotel, grabbed three hours of rest, woke up and got going with setup for the convention. after setup was done for the day, i came back to the hotel and immediately crashed. still lots of work to catch up on, but i need to rest.

shawn randall at the bowery poetry cafe

i was at the bowery poetry cafe last thursday for shawn randall's supernova event. he brings together an eclectic mix of talented performers for an evening of music, dance, and spoken word. he's also a supremely nice individual.

sorry for the lack of updates these last few days. i've been slaving away in philly preparing for two conventions out in the midwest. i'll be travelling for the next two weeks, so updates may be sporadic.
