i've been swimming in code, which is nice and also tiring at the same time. it exercises a problem-solving side of my brain which likes to be tickled. but the pace can sometimes be draining, as so many things are always needed yesterday. i'm also responsible for the user interface and graphical design of the big name project i'm involved with right now. which means i can take a concept or piece of functionality from start to finish. but it also means there's no one to pass the buck to. yes, i love iterating through query results! current task: build a mass emailer module and tie it into a mobile contacts database.

tally on to tarrytown

i've been working up in tarrytown these last few. i love the ride up there, as it takes me out of the city, winding its way over and under bridges, through tunnels, and into the start of what you might even consider woods.

last of the set

this is the final batch of these particular life magical cards. count yourself among the lucky to have received one, luckier still if you decided to keep it and not toss it with the rest of the flotsam. this card uses one of the first logo treatments i ever came up with for life magical.

art swap!

make a piece of art, leave with a piece of art. what a grand scheme. funnily enough, i ended up with christy's silkscreened postcards (complete with stamped envelopes), and she ended up with my box. i was 14, she was 41, we drew each other's numbers. how fateful.

hosted by cheryl z. thank you russell for nurturing the spirit of the dance party.

sticker fiend

i was once passing by a teacher's supply store in philadelphia when something called out to me from within the store. i was going to ignore the voice, but x turned us around and we went in. looking around i really didn't see anything, until i came upon their section of stickers. i lost my head a little, i'd never seen so many stickers in my life. i ended up buying more stickers than any sane adult should. i went back a few months later and bought even more stickers. my name is minwin, and i am a stickr fiend.

grand central

coming back from work the other day on the metro north, i ended up at grand central station. i have an upcoming wedding where we're planning to shoot some formals there, so what a serendipitous opportunity to scout the space a little. the station is surfaced in this very nice granite or slate tile, but what i really noticed were these amazing chandeliers, little ornate globes of sparkling brilliance. just imagine a bride in front of this thing. wowz..

sixth avenue, the L train. i heard the sound of music from down the platform. caught up in my thoughts, i ignored it for a while, until finally i walked on down. there he gently rocked to the sway of his black streamlined bass and his song would occasionally tease a smile. it was strange to hear the softness of his music amongst the grittiness of the subway station. he was like the warmth of chocolate on a winter night, his voice quiet and his eyes closed.

i come around for you
in ways i thought i would not have to
you say you'd do the same
meet me here at twelve past after
this time i won't complain
if half the day we skip disaster
here we go again
here we go again
