new york to southern california. santa ana to san diego. it was straight home from ny comic con to pack my bags. another few hours drive to philly, where i could barely keep my eyes open. hopped the flight to cali, with a layover in atlanta. i barely noticed as i climbed into business class. a few minutes into the flight, i woke up when the attendant tapped me on the shoulder and asked me, "omelette or quesedilla"? it'd been like forever since i'd had plane food, and the thought seemed appetizing (no really). i made a quick mental calculation, thought better of it and shrugged off breakfast, then fell into the graceful arms of sleep. a diet like no other. i awoke ten minutes before landing and managed to catch some photos.
it was going to be a little tight making the drive from santa ana to san diego for the iapp convention, but i needed to pick up supplies. otherwise, i would have flown directly into san diego. fortunately, the spirits were on my side and i got to the manchester grand hyatt with 30 minutess to spare. arriving in the vendor's hall, i broke out the light panel, my photo printers, and a little bit of life magical. the next three days sailed by beautifully.

friends with strangers, part 1..

a beautiful night, fueled by a near full moon. i caught it as i left the javits center, sitting high in the sky. it was sending messages on moonbeams, and i was receptive like lingering love.
i chatted with yossef from bangladesh as we shot uptown. he said he took an hour and a half off work this afternoon to spend time with his lady. i can imagine them lazy and breezy in central park. uptown, i met with bridget & eric, who are getting married in august. they loved to laugh. and the hugs weren't bad either. the night after that was sweet as dessert. new york at its purest tonight, warm breezes keeping excited hearts alive.
two dozen roses, just as many quirky encounters, a million laughs and some groans later, and it was good to meet everyone. now, in a nearby distant backyard, friends are singing happy birthday. only in new york, how i do love thee..

new york's comic con starts up today at the jacob javits center. purported attendance from 30-60,000. i walked through half of the exhibitor's hall and got tired. there was one booth with sok-o dolls which totally wowed me. these dolls are ridiculous! i'm going to end up with two or three dolls before the weekend's up, i can feel it.
one final convention in san diego at the start of next week, then i'm done for april. the schedule is tight, as i fly out to southern california right after comic con, pick up supplies for the san diego show, and drive down to san diego for the convention that same day.
april has been a supreme month.

sunrise over ohio

blood red sun rising over the horizon. distant farms peering out from behind pale mist, which covers much of the outlying country side. frankie knuckles blasting over the speakers, fueling our near last leg of this long journey home. the feeling that these sights, this sunrise, these roads, those fleeting trees are pleasures of a moment never to be experienced again. like the best meal you've ever had in a town you'll never visit again.
