back from otakon and prepping for gencon in indiana this weekend. tired and a hundred things to do, but resting and taking care 'o business. sorry to everyone who's waiting to hear back from me. an update later on...

in baltimore for otakon

we made it to baltimore. otakon is this weekend, where i'll be setting up a photo booth. loading up the two vans was hellified yesterday. or was it the day before? it's become a blur. i think my back almost gave out moving all that stuff.
still haven't had time to create the backdrop i was envisioning. the sewing machine waits for me. will there be time tonight? hmmmmmm... the fabric wants your bite.
i wish i had time to take pictures at connecticon last week, but there was so much to juggle in preparing for otakon. i was really impressed by how into things people at connecticon were.

second set of teasers. i wish i had time to put up more, but it is what it is. i'm in connecticut and it's five in the morning. i have to wake up in four hours to get prepared for saturday of connecticon. the drive up was serene and beautiful. there was a fog which covered the trees in the distance, not so thick that it made driving dangerous. it was actually a bit other worldly, like we'd been transported to shangri-lai.

a+j get married, teasers part 1

initial teasers from a+j's wedding. i caught the train down to the south of manhattan and walked to the ritz carlton. funnily enough, there were a slew of other brides and wedding photographers at the ritz that same day. wedding season was in full bloom. most everyone was very friendly, but did i catch a few sideways glances from some of the photographers?

brooklyn bridge and its waterfall

adrienne and i were scouting the south street seaport area the other day in preparation for our wedding shoot yesterday. we stopped by the brooklyn bridge view along the river's edge. very pretty light coming from the late afternoon sun.
we also saw the brooklyn bridge's waterfall (it's peeking out from under the right bridge thing, do you see it?), which has been the subject of quite a few conversations i've been having with friends and new yorkers recently. no matter what you think of them, at least they've sparked comment. the waterfall further down the river was being playfully shaped by the wind.

m's mom, carol, sent me this photo earlier this week along with a lovely note. she seemed an avid photographer, loving and capturing every moment she was there. aside from some adjustments to levels (darkening the darks and brightening the brights), the photo is just as she sent it. i love her eye, and even more i love her passion for photography. given prosumer-level equipment, her photos would be unstoppable. carol, i'd love to work with you any day! btw, isn't steph SO cute?

steph takes really great portraits in a way that's totally different from how i do. she shoots using natural light and she has a natural affinity for people. her portraits are warm and extremely personal. it is a good day when i get to shoot with steph.

into the future

awesome awesome awesome!! proof of concept has been achieved for wirelessly downloading images from camera to computer, allowing for near immediate viewing of photos. tremendous throughput achieved using wireless-n routers. concurrent printing to four separate photo printers has been tested. couple all this with the utter gorgeousness of the 24" imac, and this setup becomes entirely too sexy! it's new frontiers in life magical.
(i know, that sounds ridiculous right? like a report from the engineering dept. but i was really really excited.)
