some amazingly beautiful rolling hills on the philly-chicago trail last week, as we travelled back to chicago for yet another convention. that's like the fourth or fifth time we've been out there this year. and that drive gets no shorter each time.
as a note, i'm going to try publishing fewer single photos more regularly. i have a whole gallery of images from the chicago trip that has been waiting restlessly to be shown. my time just doesn't seem to be what it used to.

the main camera body i shoot with (nikon d70s) is sadly starting to show major signs of aging. it'll intermittently lock up, and recently it garbled a handful of image files. definitely not acceptable when my business is on the line. while i was hoping i wouldn't have to buy a new camera body any time soon, it does give me an opportunity to look into the new video-capable bodies that have recently come to market.
i've been jonesing to shoot video for a long time now, and while reviews on the interwebs still poo-poo certain shortcomings of the video features on these new dslr's, the following video shot by jerome geoffroy on a nikon d300s absolutely convinces me that this is the way to go.
yes, i know there's no sound (the camera itself captures sound, as well as having an external stereo mic input). and that's not even the high-def version. can you imagine life magical videos? sooooo exciting.

e+d, i know you guys are in the sunny sunshine of mexico right now. are the beaches there as warm and relaxing as i imagine them to be? more important, are you drinking a million pina coladas and digging your toes in the sand?
i'm still giddy on the inside when i think back to last saturday. your families are almost too much to be believed. can people really want to see each other that much? i choose to believe. so off i float down a stream of smiles when i look through these photos. to be honest with you, there are tons of other photos i wanted to share with you that, for the sake of brevity, we'll get to later.
i'm glad to have had that day with you, and can't wait to see you guys again. and your families too! ohh i got the tingles! haha!
