the long road home
6:30am and we were pulled over on the side of the road. we'd made it most of the way back from indiana and had but a scant two hours left before philadelphia. but it was all too much and our bodies needed rest. i would have passed out right away, but i couldn't stop thinking about how i hadn't taken a single shot since otakon. so here we were, catching no more than a half hour power nap, and i was wasting half of that time fiddling with my camera. the sky was gorgeous, as it normally is at this hour. the air was crisp. i took the shot, staring at the geometry of crops in the distance. then i passed out.
i was awoken fifteen minutes later. my mind reeled as i tried to get my bearings. we shot off again, barreling on home. my hand reached for the leftovers of red bull sitting duly on the dash. i gulped what was left and threw the can away. this was gonna be the hardest two hours of my life, my mind screamed at me.
i've been sleeping and recovering since then. i made it back into town last night in time to shoot a wedding today. oh what a splendid weekend this will be! no conventions and no weddings. no worries. no woman no cry.
