home for the holidays and its as beautiful as ever. my mom is sick and the house is a little more run down, but the family marches on. there's the strange sense of growing older. inevitable of course, but it just feels really tangible right now.

My mom went through a major, long illness (from which she recovered well) and then in 2006 we unexpectedly lost my dad... a parent's health problem can make home seem different, sometimes in a subtle way almost, and other times in a drastic way... and suddenly you're different, too.
